A theoretical model for the dynamic surface tension of an air bubble expanding in micellar surfactant solution is proposed. The model accounts for the effect of expansion of the bubble surface during the adsorption of surfactant molecules (monomers) and the effect of disintegration of polydisperse micelles on the surfactant diffusion. Assuming small deviations from equilibrium and constant rate of expansion analytical expression for the surface tension and the subsurface concentration of monomers as a function of time is derived. The characteristic time of micellization is computed from the experimental data for two surfactants (sodium dodecyl sulfate and nonylphenol polyglycol ether) obtained by the maximum bubble pressure method. 相似文献

We report on a liquid hydridosilane precursor ink prepared via the ultrasonically induced ring-opening polymerisation of cyclopentasilane (Si5H10) without irradiation by ultraviolet light. The sonication is carried out in N2 atmosphere at temperatures between 20 and 75 °C. We use size exclusion chromatography (SEC) to show polymer growth and estimate molecular mass with increasing sonication time. In combination with UV–vis transmission measurements, further SEC analysis is used to compare solutions subjected to either purely thermal or ultrasonic treatment at the same process temperature and for the same duration. Our findings provide strong evidence showing that the initiation of the polymerisation is sonocatalytic in nature and not thermic due to the macroscopic temperature of the solution. The liquid precursor is used to produce homogeneous hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) thin films via spin coating and pyrolytic conversion. The optoelectronic properties of the films are subsequently improved by hydrogen radical treatment. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) is used to determine a compact film morphology and electrical conductivity measurements show that the layers attain a light-to-dark photosensitivity ratio of 2 × 103 making them suitable for application in optoelectronic devices. 相似文献

Experiments were carried out to observe the effect of a magnetic field and grid biasing voltage in presence of a plasma bubble in a magnetized, filamentary discharge plasma system. A spherical mesh grid of 80% optical transparency was negatively biased and introduced into the plasma for creating a plasma bubble. Diagnostics via an electrical Langmuir probe and a hot emissive probe were extensively used for scanning the plasma bubble. Plasma floating potential fluctuations were measured at three different positions of the plasma bubble. The instability in the pattern showed the dynamic transition from periodic to chaotic for increasing magnetic fields. Time scale analysis using continuous wavelet transform was carried out to identify the presence of non‐linearity from the contour plots. The mechanisms of the low‐frequency instabilities along with the transition to chaos could be qualitatively explained. Non‐linear techniques such as fast Fourier transform, phase space plot, and recurrence plot were used to explore the dynamics of the system appearing during plasma fluctuations. In order to demonstrate the observed chaotic phenomena in this study, characteristics of chaos such as the Lyapunov exponent were obtained from experimental time series data. In this paper,an axial dispersion mathematical model is developed to simulate a three-phase slurry bubble column reactor for direct synthesis of dimethyl ether(DME) from syngas.This large-scale reactor is modeled using mass and energy balances,catalyst sedimentation andsingle-bubble as well as two-bubbles class flow hydrodynamics.A comparison between the two hydrodynamic models through pilot plantexperimental data from the literature shows that heterogeneous two-bubbles flow model is in better agreement with the experimental data thanhomogeneous single-bubble gas flow model.Also,by investigating the heterogeneous gas flow and axial dispersion model for small bubblesas well as the large bubbles and slurry(i.e.including paraffins and the catalyst) phase,the temperature profile along the reactor is obtained.Acomparison between isothermal and non-isothermal reactors reveals no obvious performance difference between them.The optimum values ofreactor diameter and height were obtained at 7 m and 50 m,respectively.The effects of operating variables on the axial catalyst distribution,DME productivity and CO conversion are also investigated in this research. 相似文献

Bubble behaviors near a boundary in an ultrasonic field are the fundamental forms of acoustic cavitation and of substantial importance in various applications, such as industry cleaning, chemical engineering and food processing. The effects of two important factors that strongly affect the dynamics of a single acoustic cavitation bubble, namely, the initial bubble radius and the standoff distance, were investigated in this work. The temporal evolution of the bubble was recorded using high speed microphotography. Meanwhile, the time of bubble collapse and the characteristics of the liquid jets were analyzed. The results demonstrate that the intensity of the acoustic cavitation, which is characterized by the time of bubble collapse and the liquid jet speed, reaches the optimum level under suitable values of the initial bubble radius and the normalized standoff distance. As the initial bubble radius and the normalized standoff distance increase or decrease from the optimal values, the time of the bubble collapse increases, and the first liquid jet’s speed decreases substantially, whereas the speeds of the second and third liquid jets exhibit no substantial changes. These results on bubble dynamics in an ultrasonic field are important for identifying or correcting the mechanisms of acoustic cavitation and for facilitating its optimization and application. 相似文献

Elongated freely floating smectic bubbles are observed during their relaxation to equilibrium sphere shape. Unlike soap bubbles that perform weakly damped oscillations into equilibrium, this relaxation is overdamped in smectics by internal structure reorganisation processes. The bubble area reduction of centimetre-sized freely floating bubbles with few nanometres film thickness is recorded with high-speed optical imaging in microgravity and analysed quantitatively. We find a nearly linear reduction of the film area with time, driven by capillary forces and inhibited by smectic layer reorganisations. Characteristic times are in the milliseconds range, with little correlation to the film thickness and bubble size. Instead, the homogeneity of the films and the number and sizes of islands of excess layers that spontaneously form on the films appear to have crucial influence on the dynamics. The efficiency of this process sets the time scale of the film area shrinkage. We discuss the limitations of a minimalistic model that captures smectic layer reorganisation processes. 相似文献

The Reynolds model is a reduced Stokes model, valid for narrow lubrication regions. In order to be able to handle locally non‐narrow regions such as pits or grooves, often displaying rapid geometrical variations, there is a need to be able to transit to the more accurate Stokes model. A fundamental problem is how to couple the two models in a numerical simulation, preferably allowing for different meshes in the different domains. In this paper, we present a weak coupling method for Reynolds and Stokes models for lubrication computations, including the possibility of cavitation in the different regions.
